Biography

Joseph Valane is General Counsel of Howard Hughes Holdings, overseeing all legal matters for the company and its national portfolio of award-winning communities.

Prior to joining Howard Hughes in 2024, Mr. Valane served as General Counsel of Revantage and Shopcore Properties, two Blackstone portfolio companies. In these roles, he oversaw large teams responsible for providing legal support across Blackstone’s U.S. real estate portfolio, including retail, multifamily, office, logistics, and hospitality asset classes. His extensive expertise includes navigating complex legal and business challenges, implementing legal technology, and building and managing high-performing teams across the U.S.

Mr. Valane received his JD from New York University School of Law, and his BA in International Affairs from George Washington University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected Phi Beta Kappa.
